Hanging Rock

Hanging Rock (Mt Diogenes) is a weird volcanic rock formation in country Victoria – near the town of Woodend.

We visited quickly on a rainy afternoon in winter – enjoy the pictures:

Wilsons Colour Chart

A sample of some of the colours of Wilsons Promontory National Park, in winter:

Most of these are taken around Tidal River, Norman Beach, Squeaky Beach and Pillar Point.

Garden of St Erth

The Garden of St Erth is a historic garden at Blackwood, Victoria maintained by The Diggers Club.

We visited on a wet winter day as part of our holiday through country Victoria.  Not much was in flower, due to the time of year, but there were plenty of subjects for my macro lens to target.

Great Ocean Road – sneak peek

Just starting to get a chance to look through my G.O.R. pictures and choose the decent ones.

Here is a sneak peek of a couple of decent ones, from the Bay of Islands.

The Crags

Above: Beautiful coastline at The Crags

We stayed in beautiful Port Fairy as part of our Victorian trip – we used it as our ‘western gateway’ to the Great Ocean Road.  Just west of Port Fairy is this beautiful little coastal spot – ‘The Crags’ – it was a bit of an entree before the Great Ocean Road main course.

Some more pictures from the Daylesford area.

Camellia, in the garden at Daylesford Convent

Came across this fantastic abandoned building at Wheatsheaf, on the road between Kyneton / Malmsbury and Daylesford.

It was pretty wet, but not wet enough to stop me from getting a few pictures.

Kyneton Daffodils

While travelling in Victoria we stayed at a lovely farmstay, Laurimar Glen, in Kyneton.  The girls had a fantastic time even though it was coooold and wet.  The hosts were very welcoming, especially Farmer Eric who was very patient giving a farm tour and letting the girls ‘help’ to feed the llama, deer, pigs and donkeys.

Farmer Eric also grows beautiful daffodils and jonquils and supplies wheelbarrows full of daffodils for the annual Kyneton Daffodil Festival.  I had a chance to take some photos in his beautiful garden.

Macedon Ranges

Photos from the beautiful Macedon Ranges area, taken on our Victorian trip.

Wild Natives

We’ve recently had a great holiday trip through country Victoria and we got a good look at some Australian native wildlife along the way.  You don’t see these guys hanging around the city, so while I’ve seen all of these animals in wildlife parks etc., I hadn’t seen emu or wombats in the wild before this. The kids were very excited and we kept a tally – for those interested, we saw 4 emu, about 30 kangaroos, 21 wombats (including one extremely cute baby wombat) and about 70 koala (and assorted other birds etc.).

These photos were taken in Wilsons Promontory National Park and Great Otway National Park and I will have plenty more photos of those beautiful areas, to follow, when I get the chance to go through them.
